I finished her late last night but didn’t have anywhere with decent enough lighting to take pictures. With this, the set of Guardians is now complete.

Initially I was going to use a Monster High doll for her with the skin repainted. For a lark I went through the doll aisle at Walmart one day and found this doll. Dark skin with articulated limbs. Perfect!

A word to the wise for anyone wanting to customize these Spirit dolls. The heads are a little tougher than most to remove. The plastic they use to make the heads is also fairly thick. I broke several needles on her before I learned to make my own. I used a pretty large needle to finish her head. They also have very flat chests which is a nice change from a lot of the other dolls on that market which tend to have massive ones. I think that’s because these dolls are based on younger characters? I don’t know, I’ve never seen this show. Regardless, the flatter chest was an interesting patterning challenge.

All in all, I’m so pleased with how the final doll turned out. That hair and skin combo is just smashing. I managed to keep her painted face from smearing during the styling process, so this is the one she had in her first round of painting. Saran wrap is amazing.
